Molly’s quilt

  • The Plate Quilt

I have always loved quilts and antiques, particularly antique china/porcelain. When I found a wonderful old set of Dutch blue and yellow porcelain, I just knew that it was a special addition to my home but, also felt there was a story behind that would never be told. Enter Geraldine!

Geraldine has made several bespoke designed quilts for me over the years. Wonderful creative pieces that are treasured and adored by my children and friends in Oregon, Tennessee and Barcelona.

However, this quilt was for me. As always, I gave Geraldine free rein to run with her creativity. And, I am so glad I did! The result is the most beautiful quilt representing the old world of antiquities that I love so much and the new world of progress and change that I embrace. I cannot ever thank you you enough for such a beautiful piece of work that will be treasured always.

  • Molly’s Quilt

I was given Geraldine's details via Fashion & Fabrics in St Albans. I had been looking for a quilter for some time to make a quilt out of all my daughter's 'stash' she'd acquired at university from various sports teams, drama productions and frepping. From the first conversation with Geraldine, I knew I was in excellent hands. She knew exactly what could be done with all the university sweatshirts and t-shirts my daughter had piled up in her bedroom gathering dust. She took the time to explain to me - a layperson - what would be involved and what the likely cost would be. Once I'd dropped the items off, Geraldine kept in regular contact to update me with progress on the quilt and to offer a number of options with the design. The resulting quilt was more than I could have hoped for and brought a tear to my eye when I saw the final product!

Geraldine is an absolute joy to deal with. Not only is she professional, skilful and her craftsmanship beautiful and outstanding, she is also brilliant fun with a great sense of humour. I only wish I could find more items for her to make a quilt out of! I couldn't recommend Geraldine highly enough. She is an absolute gem!

  • Grandson’s Wedding Quilt

We commissioned Geraldine to make a wedding quilt for our grandson's wedding asking for pastel colours and a design of her own choice. We gave her free rein to choose the fabric. To say that the final quilt was totally beautiful and in keeping with what we asked would be an understatement: it was beyond beautiful and well loved by our grandson and his wife.

We then commissioned Geraldine to make two cot quilts for their baby son, so pleased were we with the wedding quilt. Again Geraldine surpassed our expectations and the baby ended up with a quilt embroidered with his name and another one for when he stayed with his grandma, embroidered likewise.

We cannot commend Geraldine's quilt making too highly.

  • Our Hearts Will Go On (Storm At Sea variation)

Prior to asking Geraldine to make quilts for each of my sons and their girlfriends I had long admired her work. The quilts I’d seen were all of excellent quality and so personal to the recipient and the person commissioning.

Two years ago I asked Geraldine to make a quilt for each of my sons. The first was for the eldest who is a keen sailor and in the initial discussions about style and colour I said I’d like to incorporate his love of the sea. She managed to find an incredible design which appears to be waves of colour interwoven with two hearts, to enable me to choose the colour she gave me a colour selection with swatches of the varying shades of the blue and green tones. It is a very difficult design but she persevered! She was persuaded to repeat the design for my younger son in different colours despite the pain….!

The results, including a hand embroidered message to each of them and their girlfriend from me on the back, are stunning and they were really happy with their amazing quilts especially knowing it had been hand-crafted for them. I am delighted with them too.

  • Allison’s Friendship Quilt

Over the course of our twenty plus years of friendship, Alli and I have shared so many things; celebrated the joys of love and children, wandered like silly tourists in unexpected nooks and crannies of places we’ve visited together, sustained each other through times of heartache and pretty much been each other’s rock in a crisis. Two continents and an entire ocean separate us now and sadly, life has shown us that this will be the case for the years ahead. Even though I firmly believe we live in an age where it is easier to maintain connections with those we love through technology, I wanted something tangible and a ‘one-off’ keepsake that would forever represent our shared friendship. Geraldine took a nugget of an idea and created something precious and priceless. A quilt of beauty and colour, and love. A quilt that envelopes Alli and her sons and helps her boys dream big for friendships like the one we share. I will never forget meeting with Geraldine regarding the layout and just crying at the wonder before me. She nailed it like she had been part of our friendship journey since the beginning. Thank you is too small a statement.

  • Winnie the Pooh Quilt

There’s a kaleidoscope of memories that flood my mind and heart whenever I think of AA Milne and Winnie-the-Pooh. From my own childhood and my beloved mother instilling my love of words and the imagery they create through the stories of Pooh Corner, to helping my best friend’s daughter, Mia, at the age of 8 learn a new poem on the way to school for a competition. The horror of the sobs of a 8 year old crying when realising that every other child in the car had learned the ‘Jabberwocky’ is a moment I will never forget … in that moment, holding her back as her little friends all ran in to school and spending 15 minutes teaching her ‘The Friend’ by AA Milne not only brought my mother’s spirit close again but created a bond and love between us that is unbreakable. (Mia also credits her ability to learn scripts from those 15 minutes!) Plus yes, she won the school competition - needless to say, her father wasn’t best pleased after spending two weeks working on the previous poem with her!

  • Kaffe Fassett Quilt

I absolutely love the quilt Geraldine made for me. It looks better than I have could have ever imagined and is incredibly warm on my bed. Geraldine was recommended to me as an expert quilt maker and working with her was a pleasure. She posted me regular updates on the quilt's progress and made some fabulous suggestions that I would never have thought of myself; for example a wonderful clematis pattern for the back of the quilt. When I came to pick the quilt up I was so impressed by the amount of work that had gone into making it and the choices Geraldine had made with matching up the different fabrics. Now the quilt is on my bed keeping me warm and looking really lovely for many years to come! Thank you Geraldine.
